Touch Trigger Probes for CMMs

Where does the term touch-trigger probe come from? When the stylus comes into contact with the workpiece, a pulse is generated. Surfaces are scanned point by point with this method. Hexagon Metrology offers various touch-trigger probes under the TESA brand; these probes are suitable, for instance, for the measurement of simple geometries.
The TESASTAR probe has an integrated ball stylus that can be aligned as required. Indexable probes are marketed as the TESASTAR-i series. The TESASTAR-p stylus is a module with integrated ball stylus that can be attached to numerous manual or motorised probes. TESASTAR-mp makes use of magnetism: mounting module and stylus body are joined together by magnetic force.

The TESASTAR-i is a probe head with an accurate indexing probe stylus. The TESASTAR-i can turn to 168 positions and swivel in 15° increments without the need for recalibration.

The TESASTAR-mp probe consists of two main parts, i.e. the mounting module and the probe body. Both parts are put together by means of a magnetic coupling system ensuring a repositioning repeatable to 0.1 µm while allowing manual or automatic probe changing with no need for recurrent qualification.
