A linear motor magnetic drive system with no moving parts is at the heart of ENDEAVOR’s XY motion system, so there are no belts, pulleys or other mechanical linkages to wear, break or adjust. The result is a more reliable and easier to maintain CMM than any other one in its category. It typically needs no other service than regular calibration recertification.

Linear motors also make ENDEAVOR 2 a remarkably quiet, smooth moving machine. In fact, the linear drives are completely frictionless because they don't touch each other. The other benefit of this drive system is the silence - a soft hiss of air from the Z counterbalance and the beeping of the probe are all you hear.
